More Mammoth Adventures: Moonlight Riding/Cave Sliding
We really have been squeezing every last drop out of winter up here in Mammoth. Summer is a month away and we are still loaded with snow and even getting powder days! A couple of days ago Tyson and I were able to do two things you can rarely ever do in late may, and we did them both in the same day! One was a late night hike up and shred down the Sherwins by moonlight, and the other was a run to the lakes basin through “Hole In The Wall” (A giant shreddable Cave) Here are Some Photos:
- Started the ascent at exactly 1:00AM
- Tyson Eying the Bootpack Options
- There are Mine Shafts All Over The Place
- Mammoth Mountain at Night (look there’re stars!)
- Ben! Bird!!! Swooping!!!
- Mammoth Lakes City Lights From Above
- Our Dropping Spot Sparkles…
- Ghosts About To Drop
- After napping for 6 or so hours we went Shredding again…
- Took our last run through “Hole in the Wall”
- Sherwins from the back (this is where we hiked up in the dark earlier that morning…)
- The Cave WIthin The Cave
- Nonchalant Cave Dwellers…
- Hiking out, Lower Twin Lake is starting to thaw…
